Websites

www.generationrescue.org - Great information on the connection between mercury in vaccines and autism. While mercury is now out of most childhood vaccines, there is still aluminum, live virus and other damaging additives. Additionally, there is a list of parents who have successfully treated their children (and reversing autism in their children) who are happy to correspond with you and guide you. They are called “Rescue Angels” on the website.

www.autismwebsite.com/ari - This is the group that trains doctors and created the biomedical protocol for treating autism. They host the DAN! conference every year. This conference is a great place to learn and get information. Children actually recover from autism, and this site will let you know how that can be done.

www.autismanswer.com - This is Dr. Amy Yasko’s website. Dr. Yasko is not associated with the DAN! efforts but she has also been successfully treating autism with biomedical intervention.

www.nationalautismassociation.org - Has a yellow pages for kids with disabilities by state and territory. Also assists low-income families (so that they can access via Internet a wealth of information on autism) and assists with accessing biomedical treatment, supplies and therapies.

www.helpautismnow.com - Has information on the symptoms of autism and developmental delays and promotes early detection and intervention.

www.yahoogroups.com - Go to “yahoogroups” to join various support groups, learn about different interventions, the latest news and have immediate support if you are in a crisis. It is so important to know you are not alone and actually have support from people who understand what you are going through. Depending on where you are in the process of treating your child’s autism, the following support groups can be helpful. I would recommend creating folders in your inbox for each support group and opting for the “Daily Digest" as the there is a tremendous amount of traffic on these groups:

GFCF Kids - Covers the gluten/casein/soy free diet. Helps people learn how to nourish their children using this diet. Helps people get started on the diet.

Enzymes and Autism - Enzymes are an extremely helpful intervention in autism. Enzymes are exceedingly safe. The body actually produces enzymes and we get enzymes from our food. When a child is physically sick (i.e., autism), he or she often lacks the enzymes to break down foods leading to food allergies and other gastrointestinal issues. This group helps people get started with using enzymes for their children. It also covers general bio-medical intervention.

Autism-Mercury - This is for people contemplating chelation for their child or who are chelating their child, but also covers all areas of bio-medical intervention. Andy Cutler, PhD, who is often on the site, is an expert in heavy metal poisoning and the effects on the body.

ChelatingKids2 - Generally involves people chelating their children with transdermal creams but there are other methods as well. Issues of chelation are covered, as are all areas of bio-medical intervention.

Books

Evidence of Harm (David Kirby) - Explores the debate over whether the mercury in vaccines caused the autism epidemic. Goes deep into the political aspects of this debate.

Enzymes and Autism (Karen DeFelice) - Gives a good general overview of how the body works and what goes wrong in developmental delays and how enzymes work to help these children.

Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment (Andrew Hall Cutler, PhD) Extremely detailed explanation on how chelation works and how to chelate and how to support vitamins and minerals while chelating. An invaluable tool.

Nourishing Traditions (Sally Fallon) A cookbook that you can read as text that explains how to get you and your family the nourishment you need to be healthy.

Autism: Effective Biomedical Treatments (Jon Pangborn, Sidney Baker, MD) – Articles on the various biomedical treatment protocols for autism.

Why Can’t My Child Behave? (Put out by www.feingold.org) - If you join this organization you will get a wealth of reading including this book. Artificial colors and flavors have been shown (in a double blind study in England) to affect our children’s behavior. They are linked to causing ADD and ADHD, which are more minor manifestations of the symptoms of autism.
